Childbirth education has been my passion for the past 30 years.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, I moved to Israel in the mid-70s and live in Jerusalem with my husband. We have 3 grown sons, 2 daughters-in-law and a newborn grandson.
I have been a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (trained at UCLA School of Nursing) for over 30 years and have prepared more than 3000 couples for birth, for 16 years at Misgav Ladach Hospital and, since its closing, in private practice. For the past 6 years I have also taught a Lamaze-Accredited Childbirth Educator Training course, to bring high quality birth education into different communities.
As an advocate for normal birth, I have organized and hosted national childbirth conferences in Jerusalem with presenters such as Ina May Gaskin, Penny Simkin, Robbie Davies-Floyd and Denis Walsh.

I am a DONA Certified Birth Doula and a Certified Yoga Instructor, with over 30 years of experience working with prenatal and postnatal fitness, giving lectures and workshops to physicians, midwives, physiotherapists and birth and fitness professionals in Israel and around the world.
I began meditating in 2008 when I participated in an MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) course taught by Dr. Dina Wyshogrod (www.mbsrisrael.org). Without meaning to sound clichéd, I found this course to be life-transforming, and went on to participate in 6 additional courses, plus the practicum (twice), and have completed the TDI (Teacher Development Intensive) in my training with Dina to teach mindfulness. I knew I wanted to teach this skill for childbirth and parenting, and was overjoyed when Nancy Bardacke, CNM, author of “Mindful Birthing, Training the mind, body and heart for childbirth and beyond” began training birth professionals to teach MBCP (Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting), which she developed over a decade ago. This is a formal adaptation of the highly renowned and well-researched MBSR program developed in the late ‘70’s by Jon Kabat-Zinn (Dina trained with Jon and brought MBSR to Israel in 2002) and combines the two educational models: childbirth education and MBSR. After completing the training with Nancy and teaching my first MBCP course, I attended a professional training retreat in NY with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli.

I am now teaching ongoing MBCP courses and The Mind In Labor workshop in Jerusalem and, if there are requests, around the country. I am excited that, not only will expectant couples be learning techniques to cope with the stress of pregnancy and the intense experience of childbirth, they will also have valuable techniques for parenting and life skills in general. In addition, the communication skills that couples learn in the course have the potential to deeply enhance their relationship.
So does this mean that I will be teaching MBCP classes instead of Lamaze classes (for Lamaze classes, see www.childbirtheducation.co.il)? Not at all. I appreciate that different couples have different styles of learning and are looking for different skills for birth. Both of these courses have great value and I am committed to sharing my expertise for both paradigms. I have also added mindfulness techniques to my Lamaze classes and this addition has been well received.
In 2016 I presented a workshop on Mindfulness in Lamaze Classes at the International Lamaze Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida.
I am currently the only MBCP teacher in Israel and, as of now, there are only a few of us teaching internationally.
